GPK Foundation Supports Geological Research by Tribhuvan University Students

The Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation (GPK Foundation), under the leadership of Chairperson Sujata Koirala, continues to foster academic and scientific development in Nepal through its support of research initiatives. Recently, the foundation provided valuable research assistance to postgraduate students of geology from Tribhuvan University.

Students Ashok Dakal and Ganesh Bhattarai successfully completed their thesis with the support of the GPK Foundation. Their fieldwork, conducted in geologically significant areas of Nepal, focused on critical aspects of structural geology and resource mapping. The foundation’s contribution facilitated both academic mentorship and logistical support for their research efforts.

In a heartfelt moment shared on social media, Sujata Koirala personally congratulated the students and accepted a copy of the completed thesis manuscript. The post was accompanied by images of the students engaged in field studies — from rock sample examinations in rugged terrains to meticulous field note documentation.

Sujata Koirala expressed her pride in the achievement and extended best wishes for the students’ future endeavors, emphasizing the foundation’s continued commitment to supporting education, science, and research in Nepal.

The GPK Foundation’s collaboration with academic institutions like Tribhuvan University marks an important step toward promoting scientific literacy, environmental awareness, and evidence-based policymaking in the country.
