Former DPM/Foreign Minister, Member of Parliament of Nepali Congress Party, Standing Committee Member & Co-Chairperson of the ICAPP Women’s Wing Hon. Ms. Sujata Koirala attends 6th Meeting of the Women’s Wing & 5th Meeting of Youth Wing of the ICAPP on “The Role of Youth in Social and Political Activities and Women Empowerment” in Baku, Azerbaijan from 5-8 September 2019. Hon. Sujata Koirala has been unanimously re-elected as Co-Chairperson of Women’s Wing for the period of next two years.
Hon. Sujata Koirala during her opening remarks at the opening session of the joint meeting of Women’s Wing and Youth Wing said that “Asian continent is not only big in the size but also diverse on language, culture and religion, economic and social system. Half of the world population lives in the region. World oldest civilizations were originated and developed in the region making reach on language, culture, history and influencing every aspects of individual life” She further added that “Woman and man are two main pillars of the society. For balance and equitable growth, woman contribution needs to assess and to provide equal and equitable opportunities that their capabilities are fully utilized” She further stressed that “ In the twenty first century discrimination based on gender is not compatible to our conscience. We should commit to promote women’s participation, leadership and empowerment across society, including the all governmental sector and civil society institutions. Women’s empowerment is a critical force for sustainable peace not only in Asia but globally as well”.
Leader Koirala concluded by saying that “Nepal has developed national laws on women issues according to the country’s commitment to the international conventions in our new constitution”.
The meeting was organized by New Azerbaijan Party of Azerbaijan, the ruling party of the Azerbaijan. The inaugural remarks was made by Deputy Prime Minister of New Azerbaijan Party Hon. Ali Javad Ahmadov, Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament, Minister of Women of Azerbaijan, Youth Minister of Azerbaijan, former minister of Malaysia Hon. Dato’ Seri Shahidan bin Kassim, political leaders from 17 Asian countries and 29 Parties attended the meeting including Nepali Congress Parliamentarian Hon. Dibya Mani Rajbhandari and Nepali Communist Party leaders also participated in the meeting.
Hon.sujata Koirala also as President of GP Koirala Foundation held meeting with ICAPP Secretary General, Excellency Park Ro-byug, in regard to forthcoming ICAPP Special Conference in Kathmandu on “Inter-faith Dialogue” in 2020. Similarly, Hon. Suajat Koirala held fruitful discussion with Mr Xiaoyi Jin, Deputy Secretary General of International Ecological Safety Collaborative Organization (IESCO).
