ZHANG SHUBIN

 

ZHANG Shubin is director of Nepal Study Center (NSC) at Hebei University of Economics & Business (HUEB) professor of English language in the Department of Foreign Language Teaching at the same university. He is also research fellow at the Chahar Institute, council member of Chinese Association for South Asian Studies, and member of the Translators Association of China Foreign Discourse System Committee.

 

He has been awarded several honorable titles such as HUEB Boshen Prominent Teacher, HUEB Excellent Teacher, and Distinguished Teaching Achievement Winner etc. He had been working as a Chinese language teacher and Chinese Director at Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University (CIKU), Nepal for three years, and was granted National Educational Award by Nepal Ministry of Education for his contribution in promoting Chinese language and culture in Nepal.He had been a visiting scholar in the U.S. for one year supported by the Chinese Scholarship Council of ChinaMinistry of Education.

 

He coordinated the China Nepal Think Tank Conference from 17-18January, 2017,in Kathmandu in coordination with Xinhua News Agency Kathmandu Bureau. In October,2018,the International Academic Forum on Sino-Nepal Cooperation Within “Belt & Road Initiative” in New Eraachieveda great success at HUEBwith his team’s efforts.

 

He has chaired one National Social Science Foundation of Chinaresearch project,one International and Regional Studies researchproject of the Ministry of Education of China,5 research projects sponsored by Hebei Provincial Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, and 5 other research projects,presented 20 plus monographs to the government. He has translated one book from English into Chinese, published more than 30 articles in China’s academic journals, newspapers and online media both in Chinese English. He has attended more than 40 international and domestic academic conferences.His research interests include CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis), International Politics and South Asia (esp. Nepal).
