One-day symposium on Connecting Nepal's Tourism/Culture Promotion to Asian Countries

Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation marked the 94th birth anniversary of Late GP Koirala by organizing a one-day symposium on  "Connecting Nepal's Tourism/Culture Promotion to Asian Countries" in Kathmandu on 4th July 2017.  Honorable Minister for Finance Mr. Gyanenedra Bahadur Karki was the chief guest of the program.

Honoring National Sports Players

20th March 2011, GPK Foundation had honored all national players who had won and participated in last SAF games and other international games including Olympic and Asian games.The program was organized to mark their contribution to the respective games amid a function in the capital.

GPK Foundation Signing MOU with Amity University, India

A Preliminary understanding has been reached between GP Koirala Center for Democracy, Peace and Development (Nepal) and Amity University Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (India) to plan and implement a program of academic collaboration and interaction in the areas of study and research of mutual interest which both institutions will further pursue it at length in the near future in mutual consultation.

Seminar on Peaceful Transformation of Violent Conflict for the Promotion of Democracy, Peace and Prosperity

To commemorate the first anniversary of G P Koirala's passing away, the GPK Foundation has organized a talk program on the theme " Peaceful Transformation of Violent Conflict for the Promotion of Democracy, Peace and Prosperity" was held on 19 March 2011, Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu.

Inaugural of GPK Foundation by His Excellency President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav

The Center was established on 6 January 2011 in Kathmandu. To commemorate the first anniversary of the passing away of late Girija Prasad Koirala it was officially launched with the gracious presence of His Excellency, the President of Nepal Dr Ram Baran Yadav on 18 March 2011.

The Himalayan country of Nepal has undergone many changes in recent years. Nepal, founded in 1769, in 245 years of long history, has experienced aristocracy, autocracy and democracy, too, in her political realm. Nepal has traveled a long and arduous journey of political changes from monarchy to republic.


In 1996, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) launched an armed insurrection in order to establish a communist rule. In its 10 years armed revolt, more than 13,000 innocent people lost their valuable lives, hundreds of thousand people and families were internally displaced and billions of dollars worth infrastructures ..


Girija Prasad Koirala paved the way and opened the gates for Nepal's private sector to play a greater role in the liberal economy. The benefits of liberal economic policies were reaped by many new business ventures and sectors like the media, finance, aviation, education emerged strongly.
